Press Release - Appointment of the Auditor General

President Danny Faure has appointed Mr Gamini Herath as the new Auditor-General of Seychelles, following the recommendation of the Constitutional Appointments Authority (CAA), and in consultation with the Leader of the Opposition, Hon Wavel Ramkalawan.

Mr Herath has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.  He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Financial Accountants of the UK, a Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and a Member of the Institute of Systems Audit and Control Association of the USA.

Mr Herath has accumulated over 27 years' experience in national auditing in Seychelles and worked in the shadows of three previous Auditors General. For 12 years, he was the Deputy to the former Auditor General, the late Mr. Marc Benstrong. 

Since 2014, Mr Herath has been the Chairperson of the Government Audit Committee which liaises with Government Ministries and Departments to ensure that the recommendations made in the Auditor General's Reports are properly followed up.

Mr Herath's appointment took effect from Friday 31st March, 2017.
